If you're a fan of the enveloping bass swoop and roll and cinematics of Djrum... good work, you should be. This folds you up in similar neat warm hugs of sound and hold a steady, clear gaze over the horizon. Yummy.

This is actually an amazing ep, totally out the realm of what one would expect from a dnb label, guess diffrent lives by their name though. For planet mu fans and the like, peep this one, to the ones who only listen to dnb, expand your mind.

Never a label to be pigeonholed, Diffrent Music returns with its first full downtempo release courtesy of label stalwarts Fearful and Mtwn.
Having touched on UK techno, garage and ambient with his expansive 2017 album 'Interference', London producer Fearful joins forces with the Belgian duo for four tracks further exploring these concepts.
From the deconstructed rave of opener 'Part 2', through sultry midnight viber 'Unknown', the sub-aquatic soundscape of 'Depths', right through to the eerie, jittering last track 'Verbunden', it's an EP that dives headfirst into that grey area of nostalgia-flecked progression once dubbed the hardcore continuum — and then pushes far beyond.
A milestone release coming in Diffrent's celebratory 10th year, 'Collisions' not only continues the ongoing stories of Fearful and Mtwn, but opens a new chapter in the chronicles of the South London imprint.

This album is an enjoyable paradox, caught not just between jungle and halftime, but rather, both extremes concurrently. I'm not sure whether to slide these tunes into a hip-hop set, or break it down from a d'n'b set. This unsure feeling of speed subversion and beat delusion... I love it. DJ Home Movies
